Spurn Lightship, Hull Marina

Built in 1927, the Spurn Lightship (official name ‘Light Vessel No.12, Spurn') served as a navigation aid until 1975. During that time, the lightship also formed part of the city's naval river defence boom of World War II. In 1983, Kingston upon Hull City Council bought the lightship for restoration before being moved to Hull Marina as a museum in 1987. Having undergone refurbishment, the vessel was re-berthed in Humber Dock, close to Murdoch's Connection (Castle Street footbridge) on 2 February 2024.
