The Citylink Walking Route

The 'Citylink' walking route connects Piccadilly Station to the Co-op Live arena and the Etihad Stadium, taking football fans and concert goers on a 25-minute walk from Manchester city centre through the Ancoats, New Islington, and Holt Town areas.

The route was first opened in 2002 to tie in with the Commonwealth Games encouraging spectators to walk to the stadium rather than use cars, buses or trams. The section between Holt Town and Etihad Campus has recently been upgraded, although there are plans to make further improvements to the full walking route into the city centre.
