Shared description
Hessle Southfield Conservation Area, East Yorkshire
The special character and appearance of the Conservation Area has come about because of its development over a relatively short period of time – little more than 50 years - from 1860 onwards. This has resulted in mainly large houses, the styles of which reflect the fashions of the time. Of all the East Riding’s Conservation Areas, Hessle (Southfield) is foremost in the importance of its tree cover and its privet hedges, together with large curtilages of many of the properties.
