Christ Church, Crewe

As Crewe was expanding rapidly as a railway town in the 1840s, a parish church was built by John Cunningham in 1843. The detached ten-bell tower, designed by railway engineer J W Stansby, was added in 1877, and the chancel in 1898. All except the chancel and tower was destroyed by fire in 1978. The tower (only) is grade II listed (list entry 1138680) and is still in use by bellringers.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
