St Giles' Fair

Oxford's St Giles' Fair was originally held in 1625, originally it was a parish festival to celebrate the feast of St Giles. This annual event takes place on the Monday and Tuesday following the first Sunday after St Giles' Day, which falls on 1 September. Rather like the Mop Fairs which take place in the autumn in many towns in the midlands and west country, St Giles' Fair has evolved over the centuries. It was a toy fair in the 18th Century and by the 19th Century it was a general children's fair.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
