Most of Gwydir Street is normally accessed from the Mill Road end, and blocked off by gates south of the Milford Street junction. On the occasion of Mill Road Winter Fair 2009 the normal exit was closed, the gates opened, and a set of "Way Out" signs positioned to guide confused motorists up to Norfolk Street and out onto East Road.
