Shared description

Hammersmith Bridge

This is the second suspension bridge to stand on this spot. The first dated from the 1820s and was the first suspension bridge across the River Thames in London. The present bridge, designed by Sir Joseph Bazelgette, dates from 1887 and is 210 metres long.
