Old Pier, Hartlepool

A pier at Hartlepool was built about 1473 near the town wall on the south of the town, forming an outer harbour. Records mention repairs in the 16th and 17th centuries and 1723-4.
The Old Pier was completely rebuilt in 1813 and although it may incorporate these older elements, they are not visible LinkExternal link
The Old Pier Lighthouse was built in 1836. It has a 12m square pyramidal wooden tower painted white with two red bands and flashes every 3 seconds, a white light over the entrance channel, green elsewhere. There is a rotating radar antenna above the lantern LinkExternal link

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
