White Horse Wood Country Park :: Shared Description
White Horse Wood is Kent County Council’s newest country park. Over 20,000 trees - oak, ash, silver birch, wild cherry and crab apple - have been planted. Five hectares have been seeded to create an area of open grassland. The park contains the medieval ruins of Thurnham Castle built on top of the Downs with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside of the Kent Downs AONB. Also within the boundaries there are traces of an Iron Age settlement in the woodland area, which adds even more historical interest to this new country park.
