Mattersey Priory

This was a relatively small foundation, with just six regular canons. It was founded in 1185 and belonged to the Order of St. Gilbert of Sempringham, the only exclusively English monastic order.
In 1279 most of the buildings were destroyed by fire. The task of rebuilding for such a small community had a lasting effect, and it was never a large site. At the Dissolution in 1538 there was a Prior and just four monks.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
