Clifton Railway Viaduct, (The Thirteen Arches)
Clifton Viaduct is a Grade II listed stone structure, built in 1846 to carry trains from Manchester to Rossendale along the Manchester, Bury and Rossendale Railway, over the Irwell Valley.
The viaduct is known locally as 'The Thirteen Arches' (for obvious reasons although some of the arches are usually hidden by trees). The line was closed in 1966 and the viaduct is currently disused.
