Former Osterley railway station
The station was opened by the Hounslow and Metropolitan Railway as "Osterley for Spring Grove" 1883. The name was quickly shortened to Osterley. The station closed in 1934 when it became too small to cope with passenger demand. It was replaced by the present Osterley tube station which is a few hundred yards to the west on Great West Road.
The platforms are still intact and can be seen from Thornbury Road bridge. The station building was converted to a bookshop in 1967 and was still a bookshop at the time of writing in 2011.
