Rivers' Memorial, Hadlow church :: Shared Description

A monument to Sir John Rivers (d. 1583) of Fishall. Son of Richard Rivers, citizen, grocer and lay rector of St Mary's church, Hadlow.
He married Elizabeth Barne, daughter of Sir George Barne II, and they had Sir George Rivers, who was a Member of Parliament.
Rebuilding of the church in 1847 and 1853 resulted in the loss of many old monuments like this from the church.
The inscription is missing on this memorial.
