Cholmeley tomb, Stoke Rochford church :: Shared Description

Henry Cholmeley 1589-1632, son of Sir Henry Cholmeley and Elizabeth née Lacy, in 1614 married Elizabeth Sondes (d.1631), daughter of Sir Richard Sondes (son of Sir Michael and Mary Sondes of Throwley TQ9955 : Effigy of Dame Mary Sondes, Throwley Church) and Susan née Montagu, daughter of Sir Edward Montague.
Eldest son Montague married Elizabeth Hartop and had a baby Mary who lived 18 days and died 1639. Their other Son Robert also died in 1639.
Montague erected the monument 1641.

Other members of the family are also commemorated, including Montague who had 8 children and died in 1652, John Cholmeley, died 1768, his wife Penelope, née Herne died 1760 and 3 of her children who died as infants.
