High Cross House, Dartington

High Cross House is on the Dartington estate. It was built in 1932 as residence of William Curry, headmaster of Dartington Hall school. The modernist building was designed by the Swiss American architect, William Lescaze. In 2012 it has been opened to the public, still owned by Dartington but managed by the National Trust. There are several artists and a musician in residence, with displays and recitals. There are workshops where visitors - particularly young ones - can produce their own artworks.
[Update February 2015] the National Trust gave up the lease at the end of 2013 because there were not enough visitors, and the house is no longer open to the public.
