In its present form, this footpath is about 800 metres long. It begins at a gate beside Auchincarroch Road, and meets Dumbain Crescent near Dumbain Farm. The name Tinker's Loan is an old one, found, for example, in the book "Records and Reminiscences of Bonhill Parish" (John Neill, 1912).
