Skelmorlie Church

Built in the local red sandstone to a design by prolific Scottish church architect John Honeyman LinkExternal link , assisted by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1893-95.

Honeyman was in partnership with John Keppie at the time and Mackintosh was an apprentice draughtsman employed by them.

The Keppie name lives on in the world of architecture LinkExternal link .

Honeyman had a house in Skelmorlie (Stroove House) and found much work from wealthy clients in the village and in neighbouring Wemyss Bay.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
