Lincoln County Hospital :: Shared Description

Designed by Alexander Graham, Lincoln County Hospital was started in 1876 and officially opened on 1st Oct. 1878 although the hospital was founded in 1768 in a rented house in St. Swithins. The initial hospital comprised of a five story admin block with two, two story wings for male and female patients. A fever block was added in 1885 and an outpatients department in 1891. Alterations and a new Nurse's block were designed by William Watkins in 1914. Work to demolish the west wing started in January 2011 after being vacant for over 15 years.
