Former Corn Exchange, Newark-on-Trent

The former corn exchange at Newark-on-Trent is a Grade II listed building (English Heritage ID:384947 LinkExternal link British Listed Buildings). A datestone in the centre of the parapet above the doors, carries the date 1847 in (Roman numerals MDCCCXLVII).

The building has a central, square tower with pilastered corners and pedimented gable, topped with an octagonal dome with finial. On each face a blank dial draped with a sheaf. Life-size supporting figures of Agriculture and Commerce sit either side of the tower.
