City Improvement Trust

The City Improvement Trust was a body which was set up to improve the squalid living conditions that existed in many parts of Glasgow in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

Visits to Paris by the trustees influenced the adoption of the traditional tenement house style (typical of Baron Haussman LinkExternal link ) to rehouse many thousands of Glaswegians.

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
